5 Chic Ways to Dress On and Off the Court

How To Dress Tenniscore

Tennis style has long inspired fashion and can often be found on runways and the streets. And while it's not a new trend, it seems to be popping up more than ever. It may have begun with Zendaya's movie release earlier this year, the fact that Wimbledon just came to a close, or the US Open starts later this month. Whatever it is, it has become increasingly prominent, with fashion girlies everywhere reaching for pleated tennis skirts, flirty exercise dresses, tennis bracelets (well, those of the diamond variety, I would argue, have always been "in"), and sneakers in their daily lives. So, whether you're serving looks on or off the tennis court, we can all agree that the sporty tennis style, once reserved for on-court games, has become a sporty-chic outfit of choice.

With this in mind, we recently launched a tennis capsule designed in partnership with pro tennis star Madison Appel. The capsule features a variety of matching tennis outfits including active minis, sports bras, and exercise dresses with our all-over baby bow tennis print.

Loving the tennis looks, we mix and match our adorable tennis must-haves with streetwear on and off the court. Here are a few styling tips to go from tennis club chic to lunch with your besties—we can all agree that looking cute is half the fun and may even improve your performance.

Courtside Classics With A Twist

The beauty of tennis apparel is that the classic pieces, such as a fresh white pleated skirt or a V-neck cable knit sweater, will always be relevant and in style. But here, at LoveShackFancy, we're all about channeling the classics with a twist—florals. Think head-to-toe tennis whites with pink bows and flowers. For starters, wear a chic all-white with a pink tennis racquet bow-print skirt and matching sports bra with bow detail when stepping onto (or off) the court. Keep on theme with a sporty white sneaker, tennis accessories like a ball cap, a cute tennis bag, and pink tennis balls. Level up your look with a sparkling tennis bracelet... of course!

Polished Player

A tennis dress or tennis skort is a quintessential staple that works on or off the court. Reach for a cute matching set that will have you grand-slamming in no time. We love a style with built-in shorts to readily stow tennis balls between serves. And, if you decide to wear it without any intention of swinging a racket, might we suggest styling it up with jewelry, a great tennis bag and oversized sunglasses? Maybe a pink heel, if you’re really feeling flirty.

Sleek & Sporty LBD

The perfect tennis dress should be versatile, functional, and, more importantly, comfortable. Plus, you should be able to wear it beyond your tennis match, hence the emphasis on style. While there’s no arguing the appeal of a classic white palette for on-court days, a little black tennis dress is equally versatile. Style yours with tonal sneakers for a unique take on tennis style. For a more out-there tennis look, consider black with florals. A small gold hoop and matching white visor add a feminine touch.

The Effortless Spectator

Throw on a cozy white fleece over a white ribbed tank top and sweatpants before or after or to watch a game. Chic, easy, and cool!
