LoveShackFancy is a New York City based lifestyle brand founded in 2013 by Rebecca Hessel Cohen.
Ranging from French-lace eyelet dresses, to hand-crafted knitwear, to vintage-inspired Victorian pieces, LoveShackFancy offers sentimentally chic, versatile pieces that can take you to your dream escape on a whim.
The brand, which originated from Rebecca’s need to design the perfect bridesmaid dress for her own ethereal, summer wedding, has quickly gained a dedicated following for its luxury, travel-friendly pieces that can effortlessly transition from day to night or from city to beach.
At the heart of every LoveShackFancy collection is the love of travel and the beach. Whether it be from the Paris to the South of France or from NYC to the beaches of the Hamptons, Rebecca follows the sun, sourcing inspiration from different places, people and cultures, to create a brand that perfectly combines her busy high-heeled city-life with her luxury travel-set lifestyle.
Rebecca finds inspiration though her travels and feels that traveling gives her a sense of who she is and what she wants to create. To escape the stresses of city life, Rebecca and her family jet off to beach destinations with friends and returns inspired by the people, food, music, colors and smells.
In building this dreamy, romantic world Rebecca is most inspired by her two little girls, Scarlett and Stella; and with that came LoveShackFancy Little Girls collection in Summer 2015. This was the next step in growing the lifestyle, which will include a store in the near future. Rebecca is very detail-oriented and wants to make the LoveShackFancy brand a true lifestyle experience. From the tablecloths and flowers to vintage pieces for sale, the store will feel like a way of life.
LoveShackFancy has NYC based headquarters where Rebecca transformed a former artist’s studio in Chelsea into a dream-like space and backdrop. Taking inspiration from country houses in the south of France, farmhouses in Sweden, and beach houses in the Hamptons, Rebecca decorated the space using a mixture of textures, antiques, family heirlooms, florals and a soft color palate of whites, creams, golds and tans, Rebecca perfectly blends luxury and warmth with ease. It’s most unique and unexpected element, may be the large twisting wisteria tree that transports you into LoveShackFancy’s casual and cool fantasy scape.
Says Rebecca, “I wanted a beautiful showroom space, an inspiring area for the girls to work, a nice kitchen, a great open office for me and also a cool conference room that feels like a garden. And of course, I make sure rosé and croissants and everything else we love are always on hand. It’s an eclectic space that feels like home. We call it our dream world. ”
For Rebecca, as a mother who loves to entertain as much as she loves to travel the world, the brand embodies so much more than just clothing. “LoveShackFancy is about the way we live in the pieces, where we travel, how we entertain, how we style ourselves, and I can’t wait to share the LoveShack way of life with everyone.”
Priced between $225 and $500, LoveShackFancy and LoveShackFancy Little Girls are available online at loveshackfancy.com, NET-A-PORTER, Intermix and over 80 specialty retailers worldwide.
About Rebecca Hessel Cohen:
Stylist, designer and creative director Rebecca Hessel Cohen was born and raised in NYC. For over seven years she worked as Senior Fashion and Beauty Editor at Cosmopolitan Magazine, where she styled and produced celebrity covers and fashion and beauty editorials. While traveling extensively on photo shoots around the world, Rebecca fell in love with various countries, cultures and aesthetics, all of which continue to influence her design and point of view.
It was her childhood summers spent at her family’s Hamptons home where her love affair with the beach began, becoming the perfect backdrop for her fairytale wedding in 2010 and later the inspiration for her transient luxury travel-set label LoveShackFancy.
Always the collaborator, dreamer and creator, Rebecca lives to entertain and loves the creative energy that goes into it. To Rebecca, entertaining is “like a mini production. I entertain for the people who are closest to me and I’m able to see my dreams become a reality.” Her dinner parties in the city and Sagaponack involve vintage tablecloths, antique silverware, wine and carefully selected playlists. For children’s parties, Rebecca creates “magical worlds” with her friend Anne, a children’s party stylist.
Rebecca lives in the West Village with her husband and two little girls, Scarlett and Stella.
